Violence in American Politics Increases

Clad in military attire, New Black Panther bullies used weapons, racial insults and profanity to deter voters, and federal prosecutors in response filed a civil complaint in Philadelphia. However, the case was mysteriously and abruptly killed by a top Justice Department official just as a federal judge was preparing to punish the Black Panthers for ignoring the charges and refusing to appear in court.

While the mainstream news media lambaste the Tea Partiers with accusations of racism, violence, hatred and other transgressions, these same reporters and pundits routinely turn a blind eye towards the violence perpetrated by liberal-left \”activists.\”
Routinely, Americans are spoon-fed allegations of Republicans attempting to disenfranchise Democrat voters, but in reality it is usually groups of activists who are allied with Democrats — ACORN, New Black Panthers, SEIU, etc. — discovered to be involved in using brutish tactics or corruption on behalf of their chosen politicos. Here are a few examples:

  • — In Monterey, California several elderly Tea Party patriots holding a peaceful rally were accosted by a leftist who used vulgar language and threatened the participants.
  • — In South Florida, Tea Party participants were assailed by pro-illegal alien amnesty, while in a separate incident in Florida, SEIU members brutally attacked a black man who dared to join the Tea Party movement. Besides beating him to the ground, they screamed racial epithets at him.
  • — In North Carolina, a local GOP chairman was physically attacked at a Tea Party rally by a known supporter of President Barack Obama. The Tea Party member was assaulted while his wife and toddler watched in horror.

The Department of Justice whistleblower who resigned over the \”corrupt nature of the dismissal\” of the New Black Panther case testified before the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights this week. Unfortunately, except for the Fox News Channel — Megyn Kelly, Glenn Beck and others — the nation\’s newsrooms are ignoring the story.

At the hearing in the commission’s Washington D.C. headquarters, J. Christian Adams accused the DOJ of racial bias for dropping charges against the New Black Panther Party. An attorney on the case, Adams testified that within the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division there is a pervasive and open hostility towards equal enforcement of the law. So insidious is this attitude that, according to Adams, even a minority DOJ employee was harassed by DOJ Voting Section staff for working on a case with white victims.

To support his allegations regarding the culture of the Civil Rights Division, Adams cited numerous second and firsthand accounts. Notably, he stated that Deputy Assistant Attorney General Julie Fernandes told him personally that the division is \”in the business of traditional civil rights work.
\”In other words, it will only pursue cases with minority victims,\” said officials at the Washington watchdog group Judicial Watch.

His testimony before the commission focused on the New Black Panther case in Philadelphia on Election Day 2008. Members of the New Black Panthers – clad in paramilitary outfits and brandishing a club – intimidated voters as well as poll watchers.

The individuals involved are seen on videotape verbally threatening citizens, hurling profanities and racial epithets. Using the 1965 Voting Rights Act, the Justice Department brought a voter-intimidation case against the group. Despite receiving a default judgment after the defendants in the case ignored the charges, the Obama Justice Department dropped the case in May 2009.

This year\’s golf classic, which takes place Oct. 7, will again raise money for the Legion\’s Legacy Scholarship Fund – a donation-driven fund that awards college scholarships to the children of servicemembers who have died on active duty since Sept. 11, 2001. Last year, more than $33,000 was given to the fund, nearly doubling the amount raised at the inaugural Heroes to Hometowns Golf Classic in 2008.

Assembly OKs capping property tax increases at 2 percent; local governments get ready to get lean

pressofAtlanticCity.com:

New Jersey has the nation\’s highest property taxes, averaging nearly $7,300 per year. An examination of the last decade of taxation in 10 southern New Jersey municipalities found many double-digit increases. In Wildwood, for example, taxpayers paid increases of 20 percent, 10 percent and 8 percent between 2007 and 2009. Including school, local and county taxes, Wildwood increased its tax levy about 10 percent more each year over the last decade. The average homeowner or merchant who spent $2,068 in property taxes in 2000 wrote checks to the city of Wildwood for $4,818 last year. That\’s a 133 percent increase over 10 years. In the face of rising taxation, voters recalled two of three commissioners in December.

Senators Lautenberg, Menendez and Mayor Burzichelli Announce $1.5 Million for Port Infrastructure Development in Paulsboro

Thursday, July 8, 2010

\"Decorated WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senators Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) and Robert Menendez (D-NJ) announced that the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration has awarded the Borough of Paulsboro $1,541,200 in funding for port infrastructure development at what was previously the brownfield site of a closed oil refinery complex. This grant will be used to complete the first phase of the Water Services Infrastructure Project, part of the Paulsboro Port Development Program, with the construction of a new water tower.

The second phase will direct resources towards the construction of upland facilities, including the construction of a water storage tank, which will represent an estimated additional $250 million in private investment.

The Paulsboro Port Development Program will create new economic and employment opportunities for the Borough and the surrounding region. The result will be an improved site with the first new public port on the Delaware River in 35 years that will feature a modern portal facility, a solar power facility, and an industrial park, all contributing to the long-term economic recovery of the region. In addition, this project will enable the State of New Jersey to become a prominent player in port business, and maintain a competitive position by providing state-of-the-art facilities and services to the region and internationally.

It will allow the South Jersey Port Corporation, which lacks adequate space for future expansion of its Camden facilities, to double the level of port activity and maintain a competitive edge for New Jersey and other port facilities in the Region.
