Gloucester City Receives $1 million plus in Federal & State Grants for Streetscape Project

Gloucester City was recently awarded two American Reinvestment and Recovery Act Grants from the United States Federal Highway Administration and the New Jersey Department of Transportation. The first grant in the amount of $485,649.00 is for the Market Street Streetscape Project, which will include new brick sidewalks, between the existing sidewalks and curbs, and decorative street lighting on Market Street from 7th Street to King Street.

The second grant in the amount of $529,963.75 is for the Burlington Street Streetscape Improvements Project, which will include new brick sidewalks, between the existing sidewalks and curbs, and decorative street lighting on Burlington Street from Market Street to Broadway.

As the result of public bidding, both projects were awarded to Bud Concrete of Sewell, New Jersey. Construction of the Market Street Project is expected to begin in June. The construction of the Burlington Street Project is expected to begin in July.

On May 22, 2010. Age 62. Of Gloucester City. Formerly of Haddon Heights. Loving father of Desireé Price and Joseph Price. Loving companion of Denise Rosenberg. Lawrence proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed building computers and had an interest in HO Trains. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to his Catholic Rite of Committal and Inurnment with Military Honors on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 beginning at 1 PM at New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr. Please meet at the funeral home at 12:30 pm for procession led by The Veterans Group, Warriors Watch to the cemetery.

Superintendent Joseph Rafferty proudly announced that Kershaw Middle School student Brandon Langchang was selected to attend this year’s 8th Grade Dialogue.

This program features a group of Camden County’s exceptional 8th grade students, he said.

Brandon spoke about his experience at the 8th Grade Dialogue during the Mount Ephraim Board of Education (BOE) meeting last week.

He said that each student was able to ask questions of Camden County School Board
