WILLOW GROVE, PA – May 25, 2010 – Dresses, purses, shoes and dates. It’s prom season for area high school students, and as the excitement builds, so does the cost. Although the ladies are on their own to find dates, Willow Grove Park’s Style Squad made this prom season less financially stressful by collecting over 25 dresses plus accessories for less fortunate local teens. The dresses were donated to Fairy Godmothers, a local nonprofit that makes the donations available at a low cost. The dresses were sold at the Fairy Godmothers’ 2010 Prom Fair for $10 each, and accessories from earrings to purses were also available for just $2 – $4.

The fifth annual Little League World Challenger Jamboree was recently held at the Azalea Little League Complex in Norfolk, Va.

The Jamboree welcomed nearly 100 teams representing 10 U.S. states. States represented at the jamboree for the first time included Ohio and Michigan. The weekend-long event included games, tours, picnics and other special events.

Nastasi killed three of Salamone\’s employees eight years ago when he deliberately drove his Cadillac at high speed into a Mount Ephraim McDonald\’s that Salamone managed. Nastasi died in prison this week, six months before his parole date. \”I don\’t feel any emotion for him,\” Salamone, 45, of Mount Ephraim, said Friday. \”He changed not only the families\’ lives, but mine, too.\” Nastasi, 60, of Haddon Heights, pleaded guilty to three counts of vehicular homicide in the May 15, 2002, crash that prosecutors said was a failed suicide attempt. Three years later, Nastasi, a father of two, was sentenced to seven years in prison. He was serving his time at South Woods State Prison in Bridgeton and would have been eligible for parole on Dec. 2.

GLOUCESTER CITY NJ-An estimated crowd of 300 people, mostly local and out of town firefighters, their family members and their supporters, packed the Gloucester City Community Hall, on Nicholson Road Thursday night (May 27, 2010) to voice their opposition to a proposed cutback in the local fire department. If there were any people who favored the reduction in force in lieu of raising taxes they soon disappeared or sat very quietly.

The Verga World War II monument that disappeared some years ago when the intersection of Crown Point road and Hessian avenue was expanded has been re-created after a culmination of efforts led by Bob Jonas and members of the Verga VFW. Support was garnered by West Deptford Township officials. The project was spearheaded by Jeep MacAdams, formerly of Brooklawn NJ, who had become outraged when no one could produce the original monument that stood since 1941.

When Dogs ‘Hate’ Other Dogs

  During the first 16 weeks of life dogs learn to get along with other dogs. In a perfect world they observe their litter-mates for about eight weeks and are then adopted by a knowledgeable human who socializes them with lots of other dogs and humans. Unfortunately, this is not a perfect world.
