Loving mother of Mary Louise (John M.) Gartland of Mays Landing. Loving grandmother of Byron (Heather) Gartland of Haddon Heights. Loving great-grandmother of Henry John Gartland. Beloved aunt of Jessie (Buck) Hagan and Rick, Sr. and Rodney Gonzales.

Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Gloucester City. She was a graduate of Gloucester High School class of 1940. Dorothy was a very active member of Second Methodist Church now called Trinity United Methodist Church. Dorothy was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend her viewing on Saturday morning from 9:30 am to 11 am at the Trinity United Methodist Church: 8^th and Division Sts., Gloucester City, NJ. Service will begin at 11 am in the church. Interment with her late husband at Harleigh Cemetery, Camden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society: P.O. Pa. Firefighter Hurt by Falling Debris | Firehouse.com

SHARON, Pa. — A family was left homeless and a firefighter was injured Sunday morning by a house fire in Sharon.

The exact cause of the fire at 127 Second Ave. wasn\’t clear, but firefighters said it started near a wood stove in the living room of the two-story house and spread to two upstairs bedrooms and the attic.

The family living at the home, husband and wife Joshua and Tiffany Stearns and their four children, aged 3 to 13 years old, will have to find a new place to live, Brian Scarmack, a captain with the Sharon Fire Department, said.

\”The house isn\’t livable,\” he said.

Firefighters were called to the scene at 8:34 a.m. and spent about 2è hours fighting the blaze, a Mercer County 911 dispatcher said.

GLOUCESTER CITY-Thank you everyone for the outpouring of love throughout Sr. Mary Ryan’s illness. At that most difficult time, many generously gave freely of themselves. We especially remember and appreciate the parish nurses, all those who brought us wonderful food and desserts, and everyone who stopped by to visit. Above all we know she appreciates the many heartfelt prayers and Masses you have offered for her.

Your comfort and understanding has provided us with great strength, particularly your continuing to honor and celebrate Sr. Mary Ryan’s life and work; for as she wrote in the Dominican Sisters of Hope newsletter, \”All of the volunteers of St. Mary’s parish family try to fill that empty place in other people’s lives and hearts. The people of St. Mary’s give freely and manage to give pleasure to those they serve.

They transmit love to many people. I find great comfort in knowing that these programs will continue in my absence. I thank God everyday for the blessing of having spent so many years with them.\”

We too, feel blessed by your friendship and your heartfelt gestures of love, support, and kindness. Thank you for being a part of our Gloucester City family. God touches our lives so that through us he may touch the lives of others.

HARRISBURG — Sportsmen’s organizations with approved propagation facilities can augment local ring-necked pheasant stockings and increase localized recreational hunting opportunities by raising day‑old pheasant chicks supplied free-of-charge by the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

Applications to participate can be downloaded from the agency’s website (www.pgc.state.pa.us), by clicking on \”Self Help,\” then \”Forms & Programs\” and then selecting \”Pheasant Chick & Egg Program.\” In order for Game Farm superintendents to plan and set hatches to accommodate requests, the Bureau of Wildlife Management must receive completed applications by March 31.

Manhattan College Tabbed as 2010 MAAC Baseball Preseason Favorite

Edison, N.J. – Manhattan College has been chosen as the favorite to take the 2010 MAAC Baseball title, according to a preseason poll voted on by the league\’s head coaches.

Manhattan finished with 79 points in the poll, while Marist College finished second (71). Canisius College placed third with 65 points. Rider University placed fourth (43), followed by Siena College (42), Fairfield University (40), Niagara University (29), Saint Peter\’s College (20), and Iona College (16).

The Jaspers\’ senior outfielder Kevin Nieto was named the 2010 MAAC Baseball Preseason Player of the Year. Last season, he led all of Division I with 1.57 runs per game. Nieto hit a team-best .396 as he helped guide the Jaspers to their second consecutive MAAC regular-season title. He also led the MAAC in runs scored (72) and slugging percentage (.754).

The infield for the 2010 preseason team includes: Marist\’s Bryce Nugent as catcher, Manhattan\’s Austin Sheffield at first base, Siena\’s Dan Paolini at second base, Saint Peter\’s Conor Mullee at shortstop and Siena\’s Anthony Giansanti. Joining Nieto in the outfield are fellow teammate Mike McCann and Canisius\’ Ian Choy. Manhattan\’s Anthony Armenio is the designated hitter, and Canisius\’ Shayne Willson is the utility player. Fairfield\’s Rob Gariano rounds out the Preseason All-MAAC Team as the pitcher.
