Maryland: DNR Announces 2010 Trout Stocking Schedule for Spring Season

ANNAPOLIS, MD (January 20, 2010) — The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will begin stocking approximately 326,000 rainbow and brown trout into freshwaters across the state for spring trout fishing enthusiasts in early February depending on the weather, stream and ground conditions.

SOUP & SALAD: From Camden to the World\”

The Camden City Garden Club & the Camden Children’s Garden Presents at the 2010 Philadelphia International Flower Show

CAMDEN, N. J. (January 1, 2010) At the Philadelphia International Flower Show (February 28 – March 7, 2010), the Camden City Garden Club, operator of the Camden Children’s Garden, will present \”Soup & Salad: From Camden to the World\”. This exhibit will address food security and sustainability. The display will educate Flower Show visitors about how easy it can be to grow their own produce and motivate families to prepare fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables to enjoy these meals together.

The reference to \”Soup and Salad\” pays homage to two healthy meals that are enjoyed by most cultures in various ways throughout the world. Also, \”Salad\” specifically symbolizes the mission of the Camden City Garden Club and its ever-expanding Community Gardening Program. With 26 years of experience helping to grow and feed the City of Camden, the Garden Club’s Community Gardening Program strives to provide sustainable urban agriculture, food access and nutritional education to the people of Camden. GAME COMMISSION TO LAUNCH FOURTH ROUND OF DEER MANAGEMENT OPEN HOUSES

HARRISBURG – For the fourth consecutive year, the Pennsylvania Game Commission is hitting the road to bring six deer management open houses to communities throughout the Commonwealth beginning on Feb. 20 and ending on April 10.

Open houses are used by the agency as an interactive public outreach tool that employs multimedia presentations, exhibits and wildlife managers to bring both the nuts-and-bolts and finer details of deer management to hunters, farmers and others whose lives are influenced by deer. The effort emphasizes bringing this powerful communications and educational tool to residents as a means to further the general public’s understanding of deer and deer management. The approach is bolstered by having agency employees on hand to engage participants who attend the open houses.

Open houses provide a means to cover wide-ranging topics through specialized stations set up in a large hall. Stations are spaced out so participants who have questions and/or comments for station attendants can communicate in a one-on-one exchange without interruptions and with the expectation of getting answers immediately.

\”Here’s your chance to interact with a deer biologist, or State Game Land manager, or forester,\” explained Game Commission Executive Director Carl G. Roe. \”And hopefully, one of the open houses will be close to your home. The goal here is to reach out to Pennsylvanians, both figuratively and literally. We hope that every person who attends an open house can better identify with our deer management program upon leaving.\”

Six open houses are currently scheduled to be held in Pennsylvania. They will all have the same presentation: displays manned by agency staff. The displays are:

– Goals that Direct the Deer Program – Outlining the five goals of the deer management program;

– Management Goals are a Product of Public Input – Focuses on the participating stakeholders who were involved in developing the current deer plan goals;

– Where do you hunt? – Helps hunters take a critical look at the characteristics of habitat through visual representation;

  • Michael J. Ward, Esq. was appointed Planning Board Solicitor for the Borough of Brooklawn for a period of one year at the current rate of compensation for such service.

  • Kei Associates was appointed as Borough Engineer for the Borough of Brooklawn for a period of one year at the current rate of compensation for such service.

  • Bowman & Company was appointed as Auditors for the Borough of Brooklawn for a period of one year at the current rate of compensation for such service.

  • Michael C. Avalone, Commerce National Insurance/ConnorStrong, was appointed Insurance Agent for the Borough of Brooklawn for a period of one year at the current rate of compensation for such service.

  • Lawrence L. Hubert, Esq. was appointed Borough Public Defender for the Borough of Brooklawn for a period of one year at the current rate of compensation for such service.

  • Howard C. Long, Jr., Esq. was appointed Borough Prosecutor for the Borough of Brooklawn for a period of one year at the current rate of compensation for such service.

  • Matter Brothers Electrical Contracting was appointed Borough Electrician for the Borough of Brooklawn for a period of one year at the current rate of compensation for such service.

  • Rich Borgesi was appointed Borough Plumber for the Borough of Brooklawn for a period of one year at the current rate of compensation for such service.

Resolution #13-10, #14-10, #15-10, #16-10, #18-10, #19-10, #20-10, #51-10 and #52-10 were approved January 4, 2010 and contracts are available for public inspection in the office of the Borough Clerk, 301 Christiana Street, Borough Hall, Brooklawn, NJ 08030 during regular business hours.
