Roger was a U.S. Navy Korean War Veteran, receiving a purple heart. Life member of the Brooklawn Vol. Fire Department, member of the On February 7, 2010. Age 78. Of null. Loving husband of 47 years to Shirley E. (nee Irwin) Loving father of George (Joyce) Harrum, Joan (late Thomas) Cuomo, John (Ani) Harrum, Judy Harrum and Nancy (Paul) Shrader. Loving grandfather of 12 and great-grandfather of 10. Dear brother of Carol Utts.

Born in Springfield, IL, Roger and his family have resided in Brooklawn for the past 45 years. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was a recipient of a Purple Heart. Roger was a life member of Brooklawn Volunteer Fire Department. Prior to retirement, Roger worked 25 years as an Orthopedic Technician at Underwood Hospital in Woodbury. He was a member of Brooklawn American Legion Post 72.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend his viewing on Saturday morning from 10 am to 12 noon at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME: 851 Monmouth Street, Gloucester City. Methodist funeral service officiated by Pastor Gary Brennan will begin at 12 noon in the funeral home. Military honors to follow in the funeral home. Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Roger’s memory to: American Diabetes Association: P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312. Please write in the memo: Roger W. Harrum.

Freedom Car prepares for ARCA race

Jerick Johnson, driver of The American Legion/David Law Firm 76 Freedom Car, and his Team Johnson Motorsports crew are in Florida this week preparing for the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona International Speedway. The 80-lap race is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. Saturday and will be televised live on SPEED.

The Daytona race is the first of 10 Automobile Racing Club of America contests in which Johnson is scheduled to compete during 2010. The step up in racing circuits follows a successful racing season that culminated in Johnson’s winning of the 2009 ASA Late Model Challenge Series Rookie of the Year trophy. He also finished ninth in total championship points for the 2009 season.

Olympian Erin Donohue Meets the Gloucester Catholic Girls Cross Country Team

Erin recently gave a motivating talk to the GCHS boys and girls cross country teams and their families at the Cooper River Boathouse. She recounted her experiences on the road to the Olympics from a schoolgirl in Haddonfield to the Beijing Olympic 1500 meters. Besides being an Olympian, Erin has been the top ranked US runner in the 1500 meters. She recently won the prestigious New Years Eve Midnight Run in New York\’s Central Park and the mile at the New Balance Games, with the fastest mile time in the world this year. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/olympics/2010-01-23-3580244938_x.htm

Joseph A. \”Pop\” McKenna, His Passions in Life…Kids and Sports

$\"6a00d8341bf7d953ef0115724332f3970b-120wi\"$ Joseph A. \”Pop\” McKenna of West Deptford died on February 7, 2010 at the age of 63.

Joe\’s two passions in life were kids and sports. His 40 year legacy of devotion to community sports in West Deptford touched the lives of many area children. He was Instrumental in forming the first West Deptford Midget Football program, St. Matthew\’s Father\’s Club and the Gloucester Catholic Home Run Club.

Joe was also active with the Baseball and the Wrestling Association. He was honored to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award for volunteering from West Deptford. Prior to retirement, Joe was employed with Atlas Building Systems as a Quality Control Manager.

Pop will be long remembered as a hard-nosed, dedicated man who freely gave of himself; and loved and encouraged his grandchildren as well as everyone he\’s coached through the years.

He is the beloved husband of Patricia (nee Barrett); devoted father of Sean M. McKenna, Sr. (Susan) and Jillian Kaminski (John); loving grandfather of Zachary, Kyle, Shea, Cole and the late Sean, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Thurs. 6:30-9 PM and Fri. 8:30-9:15 AM in the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter St., Woodbury. Funeral Mass Fri. 10 AM in St. Matthew RC Church, National Park.

Interment New Saint Mary\’s Cemetery, Bellmawr.

Attention Gloucester City Residents! SNOW EMERGENCY

Dear Resident:
With the expected snow storm tomorrow (Wednesday, February 10) we are asking for your help. Camden County has $\"6a00d8341bf7d953ef0115713bfdcc970c-120wi\"$ requested all residents to refrain from parking on any county roadway so that the plows can do their job. The City of Gloucester is asking you to please clear your walk way when the snow stops so that residents and school children will have a safe path to work and school.

I would also like to remind you to remove any snow from the roof of your vehicle prior to leaving your house. This is a new law that took effect this year due to the many injuries from blowing ice and snow from the roof of vehicles. We are asking everyone to refrain from throwing the snow back into the streets, this causes major ruts and could potentially cause an accident. Finally, please refrain from driving unless it is an emergency because we need to keep the streets clear so that the city plows can clear the streets more efficiently.
