SNIPPET-What a stinky job -The City of Gloucester City has hired a Sanitation Enforcement Officer (SEO) to enforce the City ordinance for trash and recycling. According to the Press release the purpose is to decrease the City’s fees for waste volume and keep the City eco friendly or \”Green\”.
\”This is a friendly reminder to make sure you separate your trash from recyclables. Your cooperation in this matter will be greatly appreciated.\” The statement was signed, sincerely Gloucester City’s Public Works and Housing Department.
According to City Administrator Jack Lipsett, \”This is a part-time position paying $15.00 an hour for no more than 19 hours a week. For the immediate future we will be warning people so they are aware of issue. Second warning is a $32 payable fine. Third offense is court action and the fines are levied by the judge.\”
Can you imagine having this job? Just what I want to do on a hot humid day in the summer, look through a trash bag with the flies, maggots and the smell of rotten garbage for a few cans or bottles that should be recycle.
