Her Mass of Christian Burial will follow, 10 AM, at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Kings Hwy. & Black Horse Pike, Mt. Ephraim, NJ. Interment, New St. Mary\’s Cem., Bellmawr, NJ. The three services, along with active-duty Air Force personnel, will provide medical, dental and optometry services to residents of nine remote villages in the state through Aug. 24.
Air Force Lt. Col. (Dr.) Dixon Christian treated more than 40 patients during outreach efforts in the communities of Kivalina, Koyuk and Wales. Air Force Lt. Col. Huey Frye, an optometrist from the Tennessee Air National Guard\’s 118th Medical Group, saw more than 45 patients; Air Force Maj. Mike Lewis of the Georgia Air National Guard\’s 116th Medical Group and Air Force Capt. Rhonda Ellison of the Alabama Air National Guard\’s 117th Medical Group – both veterinarians — gave rabies shots and other vaccinations to more than 115 animals.

Ed was in the Army Reserves and was retired from the NJ State Police. His last assignment was patrolling the Atlantic City Expressway. He graduated from St. Mary’s Grammar School and Gloucester Catholic High School where he played football and baseball. One of his past times was lifting weights and going to the gym.

He survived by his wife Kathleen (nee Hickman), his children and grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Tom, Greg and Gus and a sister Sally Ferry Green and many cousins.

These signs will remain with the sponsors names, business names, and club names for one year, and would be renewed each year if the sponsor chooses.

The proceeds from this Fundraiser will help to defray cost of the Senior Class Trip.

Gold Sponsors will be placed on the signs and receive a Lion Paw for each year they renew their sponsorship. The cost of the advertisement will be $100 with two inch lettering.

Blue sponsors will have the same as the above with one inch lettering at a cost of $50.

Lion’s Family Pride sponsors will receive the same as the above with ½ inch lettering on these signs at a cost of $25.

In a 21-year, 18-season career (interrupted by World War II service) pitching for the Cleveland Indians, Bob Feller was the greatest pitcher of his day with a 266-162 won-lost record encompassing three no-hitters, 12 one-hitters and 2,581 strikeouts. He won 20 or more games in six seasons, and set the modern mark of 18 strikeouts in a single game and the season-high record of 348 strikeouts.

The Major League Baseball season opened in April, but for me the real call of \”Play Ball\” comes just around this time of year. June, the \”bust-in’ out all over\” month for American Legion Baseball, is the time when countless thousands of youngsters put on their uniforms and prepare for some of the most exciting, enjoyable experiences of their lives.
