Contrary to a widely circulating gag, Disney is NOT eyeing Bellmawr, N.J., for a new historical theme park called Disney\’s America. Not truth to it, said two Bellmawr Borough Hall staffers. The rumor, though, did prompt a TV camera crew to trek to the Camden County burg to investigate, and lead to a note on Wikipedia\’s entry for \”Disney\’s America\” that \”this was only a rumor.\” Apparently, as an April Fool\’s joke, someone rewrote a 1993 press release about a proposed Virginia project.

Feds not on board new N.J. rail line

A planned commuter rail line from Camden to Glassboro won\’t qualify for federal transit funds, leaving state taxpayers with the full $1.3 billion bill. But Delaware River Port Authority officials said Wednesday the project is South Jersey\’s top transportation priority and the state is committed to seeing the line is built.

The plan calls for diesel light-rail trains to run 18 miles alongside an existing Conrail freight line to serve Glassboro, Pitman, Mantua, Wenonah, Woodbury, Deptford, West Deptford, Westville, Bellmawr, Brooklawn, Gloucester City and Camden.

FALSELY ACCUSED

THANKS FOR ALL THE HARD WORK

(Gloucester City News 6/4)I went to the Cedar Grove Cemetery and Union Cemetery for the Memorial Day Ceremony. It started at nine, and was very nice, the Firemen, Cub Scouts and Scouts Leaders, VFW, Bag Pipes, two young girls played tops, really good.

Sorry to say there were no families there.

Thanks to all who worked so hard putting this together.

182 GCHS Students Receive Diplomas

Gloucester Catholic High School (GCHS) conferred diplomas on 182 graduates during commencement ceremonies May 28.

Nicolette Davis of Gibbstown and Julianna Kopakowski of Glassboro are the co-valedictorians for the GCHS Class of 2009.

Graduation festivities for students and their families began with the Senior Awards Brunch at Auletto’s in Deptford.
