Brooklawn Mayor Feels Town Mergers will be Forced by State

\”It seems that the state government intends to force mergers of municipalities or to force shared services,\” said Mayor John Soubasis as the Brooklawn budget was discussed during the May Council meeting.

\”We are doing what we are supposed to do, trying to keep expenses down while still providing services to our residents and still it seems that we will be punished for doing what we are supposed to do,\” Soubasis said.

He explained the Borough’s situation during a visit to the NJ State Division of Local Services accompanied by the borough auditor, Kirk Applegate.

Mayor Soubasis and other borough officials have gone to the state meetings for the last eight to 10 years, and have said they came away frustrated, he said.

Congratulations to James Burkhardt for qualifying at the state level for long jump, 100M, and 4×100 relay. James will go to Cape May Court House on June 13 and 14th to compete in the state meet. If James qualifies at states he will move on to the regional meet that will be held in New York in July. Good Luck James!

A CRY FOUL FOR TEE-BALL

\"17248\" (Gloucester City News 6/4)First, I wanted to thank all those coaches and other volunteers that donate their time to the Gloucester City Little League. As Gloucester City is a small town and rumors fly, some parents are crying foul.

Parents of the Pee Wee Team A-Jack’s Printing are outraged that team photos are not being distributed after payment was received, and in most cases processed, by the photography company. Upon calling the company you receive a recording and must leave a message, to which I have not received a response.

Other teams have received their photos, but not the A-Jack’s team. The parents did not pay the fee to the Little League, they paid the photography company. I see a possible act of fraudulence.

It seems that Bruce Darrow of the Gloucester City Little League refuses to distribute team’s photos due to a lack of communication between the league, a new coach (kudos for volunteering), and new parents of young players.
