The Gloucester High School right-hander felt pain in the back of her pitching shoulder and discomfort in her pectoral muscle during a game against Penns Grove Monday. The injury forced her to miss games Wednesday against Pennsville and Thursday at Pitman. An MRI was scheduled for Friday, but because Chain was showing improvement her doctor decided she might not need the test.

MVP\’s were Pat Rodgers and Lou Underwood. Pat hit a ball that 2 hopped the left field fence. (Manager Cowgill moved his outfield in). Lou Underwood was 4-5 on the day with 2 doubles.

My husband and I placed the baby owl in the upper portion of one of our pine trees so the crows could not see it and the mother could come and get it.

We heard the Mother calling and he was gone the next day. Happy ending!!

Like most people involved in JCAA, I wear multiple hats. Donning my Fluke Tournament Chair hat has been quite an adventure. Everyone is very well aware of the economic climate here in New Jersey, our nation and the world. JCAA is not immune to these economic factors and the Fluke Tournament Committee has had to be creative in ensuring that the tournament will continue to offer fabulous prizes, and a great time to boot. To be candid, this is the JCAA’s largest fundraiser. Over the past 15 years, we have been fortunate to attract many port prize, door prize and grand prize sponsors. We are continuing to work with what sponsors are still available. Some have filed for bankruptcy, others have been absorbed by other companies, but those who remain have been generous, for which we are thankful. Please thank them by purchasing our sponsor’s products over the coming year. They are supporting the JCAA and its important mission to represent you while you continue to enjoy recreational fishing.

We now have have second annual Art exhibit and it has grown from the empty Comcast store to Troxie\’s Chicken and Pizza, Comcast, Labbree Realty, Gordon Manor, Espresso Coffe Bar, The Gloucester City Library, and The Gloucester City News. We are very proud of the students from Mary Ethel Costello School and Saint Mary\’s School for the beautiful art work they submitted. Most concentrated on a Springtime theme which brightens up our city.

Anthony R. Mazza, \”Tony\”, Age 70, of Largo Florida, formerly of Magnolia NJ passed away on November 22, 2008.

Anthony was born a twin son in Atlantic City, NJ to parents Joseph and Maria of Calabria, Italy. Raised in Hammonton NJ, Anthony and his brothers and sisters learned the value of hard work by assisting their parents on the family farm.

Anthony joined the Air Force in 1956. He was stationed in Japan and the Philippines and in the states of California, Mississippi and Texas. While serving, he trained as a Radar Repairman Second Class, in the HQ 3555^th Flying Training Group Advanced Intercept. He received a Good Conduct Medal and Honorable Discharge in 1960 and remained as an Inactive Reservist until 1962.

Anthony married Carol (Levengood) in August of 1961. They had a son Anthony in March of 1963 and daughter Michelle in June of 1966. Anthony was a Carpenter and Cabinet Maker by trade and was well known for his attention to detail and fine finish work. He played the Accordion in the Berlin String Band and was an avid bowler and sports fan. He often bowled on leagues and was presented with numerous trophies over the years. He moved to Florida in 1998 and enjoyed his early ‘retirement’ years fishing and boating in the sunshine state. He was very much looking forward to celebrating his 50^th wedding anniversary.

Anthony fought a very long and courageous 30 year battle with cancer and touched everyone who knew him with his will to survive. Always the optimist, he never complained of his illness, even when he knew his health would fail him.

Anthony is survived by his wife Carol, Son Anthony, Daughter Michelle, Sisters Josephine and Angelina, Brother Santo (Nancy), Sister in Law Shirley, and many loving friends, cousins, nieces and nephews, and his beloved stray tabby cat named Skooch.

At the request of the family, memorial service and United States Air Force Military Honors are private.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a celebration of Anthony \”Tony’s\” life on Saturday, June 13, 2009 after 3:30 pm to his daughter, Michelle’s residence: 856 Orchard Avenue, Runnemede NJ 08078. 856-931-3113.
