GLOUCESTER CITY NAMED A TREE CITY USA

PRESS RELEASE

GLOUCESTER CITY-Last week, Gloucester City was officially named a TREE CITY USA, by the National Arbor Day Foundation.

The National Arbor Day Foundation, along with the U.S. Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters recognizes towns and cities across the United States that manage and oversee their municipal public trees and care for trees which are located onmunicipal property including streets, parks, and public buildings.

Gloucester City will officially be presented with a TREE CITY USA award including a plaque and a flag at the New Jersey Arbor Day Ceremony on April 24, 2009 in Tewksbury, NJ.

This award comes in the midst of the successful partnership between Gloucester City, the Gloucester City Tree and Beautification Committee and the state of New Jersey, Cool Cities Program to plant trees along municipal right-a ways, municipal property and participating residential property to increase the tree canopy of Gloucester City.

These are the same executives whose bad business decisions drove AIG and our economy into the ground.

This is unacceptable!

Anglers skeptical about use of saltwater fishing license fees

The federal government is behind a proposal to create a registry of saltwater anglers, which will be used to get better data. The federal program would charge anglers a $30 annual fee unless the state has its own program. The registry is supposed to be in place by next year. Donofrio urged the anglers to support legislation sponsored by three state lawmakers, Sen. Jeff Van Drew, Assemblyman Nelson Albano and Assemblyman Matt Milam, all D-Cape May, Cumberland, Atlantic. Their bill would establish a free registry with anglers logging information on a Web site.

I ask that you please consider, at the next City Council meeting, changing the form of resolution the Council passes before going into nonpublic (i.e. closed or executive) session. Attached are:

These four resolutions identically state that the public is being excluded so that the Mayor and Council can privately discuss \”personnel, contracts, litigation, negotiations and real estate.\”

TOMS RIVER NORTH- Bloomfied Tech (24-5) beat Gloucester City High School (27-2) today by a score of 56-36.

Bloomfield Tech, ranked No. 7 in the state by the Newark Star-Ledger, stamped itself as the Group 1 favorite after winning its first playoff game over highly regarded University, 60-47.

Michael Massey, of Gloucester City, A Man Who Loved To Laugh

$\"Cross5\"$ January 29, 1950 – March 12, 2009. We celebrate a life that was full, start to finish. Too numerous the stories we have heard of comical antics with friends and relatives. Michael was a man’s man, but a loving and tender soul. All who knew him will miss him for different reasons. Cherished by his children Michael Jr., Tara, Shawn, and Brett, and their mother, Kathleen. Survived by his grandchildren Ashley, Mikey, Max, and Boo, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Adored by his sisters Dorothy, Rosemary, Maryann, and Carolann and revered by his brothers George and Bob. Loved by his life-long friend Pam.

Now resting in peace with parents, Dorothy and George. Everyone will remember Michael in different ways, though all will remember his grin and sarcastic humor. He will be missed and leaves a huge empty place in this world and our hearts.
