GLOUCESTER CITY NAMED A TREE CITY USA

PRESS RELEASE

GLOUCESTER CITY-Last week, Gloucester City was officially named a TREE CITY USA, by the National Arbor Day Foundation.

The National Arbor Day Foundation, along with the U.S. Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters recognizes towns and cities across the United States that manage and oversee their municipal public trees and care for trees which are located onmunicipal property including streets, parks, and public buildings.

Gloucester City will officially be presented with a TREE CITY USA award including a plaque and a flag at the New Jersey Arbor Day Ceremony on April 24, 2009 in Tewksbury, NJ.

This award comes in the midst of the successful partnership between Gloucester City, the Gloucester City Tree and Beautification Committee and the state of New Jersey, Cool Cities Program to plant trees along municipal right-a ways, municipal property and participating residential property to increase the tree canopy of Gloucester City.
