James J. Fowler, of Gloucester City, retired Philadelphia Police Detective

\"Cross FOWLER, James J. On January 11, 2009, of Gloucester City, NJ. Age 79 years. Loving companion for 40 years of Rose Abbey. Dear father of Bernadette McDonnell and is also survived by Rose\’s daughter Marie Dodson (David) and loving grandchildren Casey, Shane, Mary Kate, Danielle, Jessica, Sandra, and Grace.

Mr. Fowler was a Phila. Police Officer for 25 years, retiring as a Detective and was a member of FOP Lodge #5 in Phila. He also worked for 15 years at Bailey, Banks and Biddle at 16th and Chestnut St.s, Phila..

 Relatives and friends are invited to meet Thursday morning from 8:30 to 10:30am at the ETHERINGTON-CRERAN FUNERAL HOME, 700 Powell St., Gloucester City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am at St. Mary\’s Church 426 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Interment to follow New St. Mary\’s Cemetery, Bellmawr. TREES ARE A WASTE A MONEY

The new trees that were planted around Gloucester City recently were a waste of money.

Who is going to pay when the trees break up the side walks and sewer pipes? Will the City pay for the repair, or will the people have to pay for it?

The City could have put a lot more effort into getting a Senior Center for Gloucester City, Brooklawn and Westville, all joined together like a family.

This would be great for everyone. Why can’t we do this?

The big fort down at Proprietor’s Park would be a good place to put a senior center.
