BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan (October 31, 2008)–\”We stand shoulder to shoulder lining Disney Drive all hours of the morning and evening, and this is yet another way for us to honor all our fallen comrades and continue to remember Jonathan,\” said Kapisa and Parwan Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) Commander, Lt. Col. William D. Andersen, speaking of the 5.7K SrA Yelner Memorial Run held this morning on Disney Drive.

More than 500 runners and walkers, consisting of military service members and civilian personnel at Bagram Air Field, competed as the PRT element assembled for a formation run honoring the life and service of Senior Airman Jonathan \”Jake\” Antonio Vega Yelner, 24, of Lafayette, Calif. Yelner was assigned to the 28th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D., serving with the 755th Air Expeditionary Wing at Bagram Air Field. Trained as a weapons loading specialist for B-1 bombers, he had volunteered for the in-lieu-of tasking as a Humvee driver for the Kapisa and Parwan PRT.

\”Choices of the Heart\” is a Woman\’s Resource Center that provides free pregnancy tests, free ultra-sounds, free counseling, and free parenting classes. Their goal is to prepare pregnant females physically, emotionally, and spiritually for the birth of their baby and beyond.

 

\”Choices\” offers classes on pre-natal and post-natal health care as well as on parenting and life skills. All services are confidential and are offered with non-judgmental care.

 

This program is designed with young women in mind who need encouragement and an experienced hand of support. Clients have the opportunity to work with a mentor throughout their pregnancy and up to their baby\’s first birthday. Upon completing each hour long health care and/or parenting skills session, clients receive credits that can be exchanged for baby items such as cribs, car seats, diapers, clothing, bedding, etc… as well as maternity clothes.

 

Various classes, videos, books, Bible studies, and home studies are offered.

William H. Goldy age 84 of Mantua on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008 at home.

Mr. Goldy was born in Mantua, he formerly lived in Brooklawn and the last 60 years back in Mantua. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War ll and operated Mantua Rebuilders from his garage at home. Bill enjoyed his friends at the Telford Inn.

Husband of the late Doris F., he is survived by daughter Barbara Goldy and Bruce Gizara of Mantua. Mr. Goldy was also predeceased by his son, William H. Goldy Jr.

Relatives and friends may visit with the family 9:30 to 11 AM Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008 at SMITH FUNERAL HOME 47 Main St., Mantua, NJ where funeral services will be held at 11 AM. Interment will be in Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro. Contributions in his memory may be made to Holy Redeemer Hospice 150 E. 9th St., Runnemede, NJ 08078.

On the first day of school a first grade teacher explains to her class that she is a Cowboys fan.She asks her students to raise their hands if they, too, are Cowboys fans.

Wanting to impress their teacher, everyone in the class raises their hand except one little girl.

The teacher looks at the girl with surprise, \’Janie, why didn\’t you raise your hand?\’

\’Because I\’m not a Cowboys fan,\’ she replied.

The teacher, still shocked, asked, \’Well, if you are not a Cowboys fan, then who are you a fan of?\’

\’I am an Eagles fan, and proud of it,\’ Janie replied.

The teacher could not believe her ears. \’Janie, please tell me why you are you an Eagles fan?\’

\’Because my mom is an Eagles fan, and my dad is an Eagles fan, so I\’m an Eagles fan too!\’

\’Well,\’ said the teacher in a obviously annoyed tone, \’that is no reason for you to be an Eagles fan. You don\’t have to be just like your parents all of the time. What if your mom were an idiot and your dad were a moron, what would you be then?\’

\’Then,\’ Janie smiled, \’I\’d be a Cowboys fan.\’
