So now what\’s going to happen on Sept. 8? Will Favre play for the Pack? Will he start, or just stab Aaron Rodgers in the back during timeouts? Will the Pack retire his number while Favre leads a protest outside Lambeau? Will Favre grant his only interview to Stephen Colbert? Will the Pack retire Favre\’s old Packers jersey or his prospective Vikings jersey?

Of all the people who look shaky or shady in this deal, nobody comes out looking worse than Favre, even if you believe, as I do, that the Packers are foolish not to take him back.

Favre could win another Super Bowl, for Green Bay or Tampa Bay, and burnish his reputation as a quarterback without erasing his new image as a 38-year-old brat.

WASHINGTON, July 20, 2008 – An undetermined number of enemy fighters were killed today in separate air strikes in Afghanistan, with one of the engagements prompting an investigation into reports that Afghan National Police officers were killed.

Combined Joint Task Force 101 officials said they’ve launched an investigation into an incident in which a combined U.S.-Afghan patrol came under attack by a \”non-uniformed hostile force\” early this morning in the Ana Dara district of western Afghanistan’s Farah province.

The combined patrol signaled their status as coalition forces, but continued to receive fire, officials said. Coalition forces then returned small-arms fire and engaged the attackers with precision close-air support. The Afghan government claims Afghan National Police officers — one report says four and another report says nine — were killed in the engagement, a CJTF 101 spokesman said.

In a separate Farah province incident early today, coalition forces called in air strikes to kill several enemy fighters. An exact number of enemy fighters killed was not available.

Parents across America frustrated by the public underfunding of their public schools may not even mind that new public school facilities now carry names like the ShopRite of Brooklawn Center (in Brooklawn, New Jersey), Rust-Oleum Field (in Vernon Hills, Illinois), and Eastern Financial Florida Credit Union Stadium (in Broward County, Florida), given that the corporations in question put in hundreds of thousands of dollars towards construction.
