Many Mount Ephraim residents and visitors stroll down West Kings Highway in Mount Ephraim for the 1st Annual Craft Fair & Classic Car Show about an hour before the fair concluded…………….Related: Mt. Ephraim News

An average spring day with a little overcast and some light winds didn\’t stop residents and visitors to the one square mile boro from holding a successful 1st Annual Craft Fair / Classic Car Show and Fire Prevention Open House.
Over 80 vendors and 20 plus classic cars made it out to line the booming West Kings Highway for the awesome event that was presented by the Mount Ephraim Celebrations Committee. Many attendee\’s filled the streets for most of the day as they strolled along to check out all of the happenings on the main thorough fair in town.

Car Show and Craft Vendor door prizes were given out every hour. Car Show trophies were given out for several different categories shortly after 1 o\’clock. The Emergency Management and Zone 5 Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) had several displays and informative literature available. The police department had their D.A.R.E. car on display and also had literature on the recently formed town watch program in addition to controlling traffic around Kings Highway on this busy day.
The fire department, as part of their April Awareness Open House, had several smoke detector and home fire safety demonstrations during the day. The most favorite is always the smoke house trailer. In addition, a fire house jeopardy event and a hose rolling competition was held for the kids. The Fire Awareness Poster Winners, the Police D.A.R.E. Contest Winners and the Little League Bike Drawing were announced through-out the day. MEPRI EMS provided EMS bike patrols along the strip to the several hundred people that came out through the course of the day.
MEFD Firefighter Julian D\’Alonzo shows children how to operate a hose line to extinguish \”a fire\”. The MEFD and visiting companies displayed equipment along with the Mount Ephraim Emergency Management & Zone 5 Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) for their Annual April Awareness Fire Prevention Day. Mount Ephraim Police were also on hand to provide information on their D.A.R.E. Program and the newly formed Town Watch Program. M.E.P.R.I. E.M.S. also provided a first aid station for the day.

Thank you also to the residents and business owners along Kings Highway for their cooperation in a day that turned out perfect for the entire community.
Last but not least, all of the days events would not have been possible without all of the countless hours of meetings and planning that were needed to put this event together by the Celebrations Committee. The Mount Ephraim Celebration Committee has recently been reorganized. The organization is comprised of citizens of Mount Ephraim that want to build a better community. They have set numerous goals to help bring the \”small\” community together as one. they hope they you will \”Come Grow With Us!\”

Best Buy Teach Award:
Recently, the Raymond W. Kershaw School applied for a Best Buy Teach Award. These awards recognize and reward schools that have found creative ways to engage students in the curriculum by using technology hands-on. We are proud to announce that our application was selected and has received one of only fifty $10,000 Best Buy Teach awards!
The program that won the award was our annual Parent Technology Night. This year we will have a Forensic Parent Technology Night on May 28th. Students in grades 5-8 will be participating in this exciting program.

The Charter Fleet at South Jersey Marina was very successful this weekend catching Drumfish.
On 5/16 Capt. Joe Lechner on \”Slammer\” and Capt. Clint Clement on \”Common Sense\” each had 14 nice size fish.
The next day 5/17 Capt. Bill Bittmann on \”Top Shelf\” came in with 13 fish.
