Elsie Fowler, long time member of Haddonfield Order of the Eastern Star

Elsie M. Fowler, age 88, passed away on September 12. The wife of the late Charles Fowler, Elsie was a lifetime resident of Gloucester City. She was a graduate of Gloucester City High School, Class of 1936, and was Valedictorian of her class.

Mrs. Fowler was a lifetime member and active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Gloucester City. She was a 71 year member of Haddonfield Chapter #140 of the Order of the Eastern Star and joined in 1936, having served twice as Worthy Matron and twice on the Grand Staff for the State of New Jersey. Elsie worked for Trailways Bus Company for 45 years and at the time of her retirement was Administrative Assistant to the Vice-President of the Northern Division, covering, Maine to Florida.

She and her late husband enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii. Mrs. Fowler is survived by several cousins, her Church Family, and special friends Louisa Llewellyn, Edna Martin, Bettie and Arch Gray, Richard Warwick (the son she never had), James and Debbie Warwick.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend her viewing on Friday Evening from 7 to 9 pm with Eastern Star Service 8 pm in the funeral home and Saturday morning from 10 to 11 am at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME: 851 Monmouth Street, Gloucester City. Methodist Religious Service 11 am in the funeral home officiated by Pastor Pete Broomall of Malaga United Methodist Church and Pastor Gary Brennan of Westville United Methodist Church. Entombment to follow in Harleigh Mausoleum Chapel by the Lake with her late husband.

October 20th a \”Support Sidoti Day\”
Proceeds to help defray rehab costs. There will be two events. In the morning a 5k run/ 1 mile walk will be held at National Park. Registration begins at 8 am. Cost is $20 which includes a tee-shirt. Sponsorships are needed and cost $125. Any business wishing to sponsor will have their company\’s name printed on the back of the t-shirt that will be given to all runners. The shirts will also be sold at the social and throughout the year at all of the school\’s home sporting events. Later that evening a Beef & Beer will be held at Gloucester Catholic. Festivities begin at 7:30 PM. The cost is $25.

We are seeking donations for a silent auction to be held that night. If you have any questions you can contact Ryan Murphy at (856)-237-4526. The 11th annual Kathy Campbell Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament,
The proceeds from the tournament have provided more than $70,000 in tuition assistance for families from St. Margaret\’s, St. Joseph\’s Pro-Cathedral, Gloucester Catholic, Camden Catholic, as well as other schools in the diocese. This year tournament will be October 6, 2007at Woodbury Country Club. The entry fee is $120, which includes golf, buffet dinner following
(at St. Margaret\’s) and prizes. If you can\’t golf, but would still like to contribute, you can sponsor a hole for $100 or just make a donation. The dancing begins at 7PM on Saturday, November 17th in the gym and continues until midnight. So come dance to the Oldies with your classmates and friends, just as you did every Friday night back in high school. Tickets are $35.00 each, which includes a buffet, beer, and set-ups. Tables can be reserved for GROUPS OF TEN (10) ONLY. Only 500 tickets will be available on a first come, first serve basis and no tickets will be sold at the door. The Gloucester Lions suffered their first loss of the young season when Schalick\’s Kyle Cullen booted a 27 yard field goal with under four minutes remaining.

The Lion\’s coming off a 42 – 13 win over Pitman last week, took a 7 – 0 lead when Adam Dick plowed through from 2 yards out on the first play of the second quarter giving the Lions the lead. Gloucester threaten to take a two touchdown lead late in the second quarter when Gloucester\’s Steve Goad\’s 10 yard pass into the end zone was intercepted ending the Lions drive.read story
