Radio Commentator Jay Lamont \”Slams\” Gloucester City

Bill\’s Point of View

For some reason radio commentator Jay Lamont, who is the host of a real estate call-in show on WPEN 950AM, made some nasty comments about our fair city this past Sunday.

From what I have been told a caller came on and said he was interested in purchasing investment properties in Gloucester City and what advice did Lamont have for him?

For two minutes Lamont badmouthed Gloucester City saying (and I am paraphrasing) \”it\’s the armpit of South Jersey\” and that when you go there all you see is drunks walking up and down the street and how nobody is sober and that he\’s been here and would never dream of investing here.\”

Mr. Lamont gave no facts to back up his statement. Nor did he mention why he was so sour on our community (i.e. did he have a personal experience to backup his remarks).

It is clear Jay didn\’t read the March article in Philadelphia Magazine about Gloucester City being one of the next Hot Neighborhoods,

As a life long resident of Gloucester City I take offense to Lamont\’s remarks. I am sure others feel the same. But I accept the fact that he has a right to his opinion even if he is wrong.

In a way he did us a favor. The City needs to find the money to buy up some of the 2000 plus rental properties we have in our community. If an investor wants to come to Gloucester City an build single family homes they are more than welcome. But we do not need any more of \”Jay Lamont\’s out-of-town landlords\”; we have enough of them already.

Incidentally what is opinion on what Mr. Lamont said about about Gloucester City \”The Holy City\”?
